Phrasal verbs
Los phrasal verbs son verbos concretos que se utilizan en inglés y que están compuestos por un verbo y una preposición o un adverbio (o por una combinación de estos últimos). En general, este tipo de verbos tan específicos dan bastantes quebraderos de cabeza a todo aquel que los estudia dadas sus connotaciones y lo difícil que puede llegar a resultar conocer su significado.

Carry out: desempeñar o llevar a cabo cierta tarea.

Come up with: ocurrirse una idea.
Ted come up with a great slogan
Fall through: no salir bien o no terminar de materializarse un determinado plan.
All my plans for this new company fell through
Write off: desgravar.
If you buy educational material you can write it off
Take over: asumir el mando.
John will take over the company while the CEO is on holidays
Pull off: lograr o cumplir un objetivo.
